East Fork Little Calumet River (Chesterton to Lake Michigan)

The East Fork of the Little Calumet River in northwestern Indiana is very popular with experienced canoeists during spring and fall, but is sometimes non-canoeable in the summer months.

It is close to towns but the banks provide a wooded atmosphere with oak, willow, walnut, rose and sumac. Wildlife includes woodchucks, squirrels, ducks and song birds.

Camping and recreational information are available at Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan. (Indiana DNR)
