Class I-II Gunnison River, CO

Lower Gunnison (Confluence Park, Delta CO to Whitewater Rec Site)

This is a 45-mile mostly calm Class I/II section.

Confluence Park (managed by the city of Delta) has a well developed boat ramp that can be accessed by most vehicles. The next boat ramp is a Delta County recreation site at the G50 Road bridge about 3.5 miles downstream from Confluence Park.

From there the river flows through a Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Wildlife Area before entering BLM's Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area (NCA).

The next two access points are within the NCA. Escalante Boat Ramp is adjacent to the Escalante Canyon Road (650 Rd) bridge.

The last takeout on this section is at the Whitewater Recreation Site off of Hwy 141 near the town of Whitewater. BLM is currently working to designate river camps within the NCA.
